Good question. For me a real friend is someone that will be there when you really need them. I know lots of people, but there are a choice few I turn to in times of need. That is how I know I consider them a friend - how they response lets me know if the feeling is mutual.

Thanks for the comment and sorry that I have been absent from my blog for so long.
I agree with what you said, being there for the hard times is definitely an important quality for a friend.
Not to worry buddy, I always think of you as a friend. Geography makes it difficult to connect on a regular basis.
